What's the difference between a website consultant and a digital operations consultant?

Most web designers build a site and move on. What I do is stick around. Every month I'm checking performance, making updates, and fixing anything that breaks. If an ad isn't working, I dig into it. If your Google ranking drops, I find out why. You get one person who knows your business and is accountable for results, not a vendor who's hard to reach after the sale.

Why would I pay monthly instead of just hiring someone to build my website once?

A website that nobody maintains stops working for you over time. It gets outdated, security patches pile up, and Google starts ranking it lower. A good comparison: you can buy a car outright, but it still needs regular upkeep to keep running. The monthly plan is that maintenance. It keeps your site healthy, visible, and doing what it's supposed to do.

The full name is Search Engine Optimization, but what it means in practice is making sure Google understands what you do, who you serve, and where you're located. If those signals aren't there, customers searching for exactly what you offer will find your competitors instead.

What does 'ad management' mean? Do I need it?

Ad management means I set up and run paid ads on Google or Facebook/Instagram on your behalf. You decide on a monthly budget and I make sure that money is being spent on the right audience. I watch it daily, adjust what isn't performing, and send a monthly report. If you want to actively bring in new leads rather than waiting for organic search to do it, this is how you do that.

What is email marketing and does it work for small businesses?

Email marketing means sending a professional campaign to your existing customers or leads, usually once a month. It drives repeat business, keeps you in front of people who already know you, and costs a fraction of what ads do. If you already have a customer list and want to stay in front of it without writing emails yourself, this is the plan for that. I handle the copy, layout, and sending.

What's a Google Business Profile and why does it matter?

Your Google Business Profile is the box that appears on the right side of Google when someone searches your business name. It shows your hours, phone number, location on Maps, photos, and reviews. Most people look at this before they ever click your website. If it's incomplete or hasn't been claimed, you're giving potential customers a reason to call someone else instead. Optimizing this is included in every plan that covers website management.

I already have a website. Can you still help me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and this is the most common situation. Most clients come to me with a site that's outdated, slow, or invisible on Google. I can take over management and improve it, or rebuild from scratch if that makes more sense for where you're at. The Platform Migration and Takeover fee is $250 one-time and covers the account access, audit, and transition so nothing gets lost in the handover.

Is there a contract? What if I want to cancel?

Before work starts, we both sign a service agreement. It covers the scope of what I'm doing, what you're paying, and how either of us can end the engagement. It's there to protect both sides and make sure we're on the same page. What it doesn't include is a long-term lock-in. All plans are month-to-month, and if you want to cancel, 30 days written notice is all it takes. No fees, no penalties. Within 5 business days of your last day, you'll receive a full handoff of every account, login, and file I've worked on.

What's included in the monthly fee? Are there hidden costs?

The monthly fee covers exactly what's listed in your plan, nothing more. If you ask for work outside that scope, I'll quote it before touching it and only add it to your invoice with your approval. Ad spend is separate: you pay the platforms directly and I manage the campaigns. No surprises.

What does the one-time setup fee cover?

The $250 Platform Migration and Takeover fee is paid once before we begin. It covers auditing your current setup, getting secure access to your accounts, documenting everything, and getting the foundation in place so the first month isn't eaten up by back-and-forth logistics.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Give me 30 days written notice and we adjust to a different plan in either direction. If your business picks up and you want to add services, or if things slow down and you need to cut back, there's no penalty for changing.

What happens after I fill out the questionnaire?

Accepted Answer

I review your answers and reach out within one business day to set up a free call. We talk through your business, what you're working with, and whether what I offer is the right fit. If my services aren't the right call for where you are right now, I'll say that directly. No hard sell.

Question 15

What do you need from me to get started?

Accepted Answer

Not much. Once we agree to move forward, I'll need access to your existing accounts and any brand materials you have: logo, colors, and photos if you have them. I take it from there. You don't need to babysit the process.

Will I have to learn any new software or tools?

Accepted Answer

No. The technical work is on my end. If there's ever something you need to do directly, like approving a post or checking a report, I'll walk you through it once. That's the extent of it.

How do we communicate while working together?

Accepted Answer

All communication goes through Proton Mail, which is end-to-end encrypted. Your business information doesn't pass through a shared inbox or a free messaging app. Standard requests get a response within one business day. If your website is down or something is broken, I'm on it within 4 business hours. Full-Service Management clients get priority response within 2 business hours.

How long until I see results?

It depends on what you're measuring. A website can go live within the first 30 days. SEO takes longer: noticeable movement usually shows up around the 60 to 90 day mark, with real traction closer to the 3 to 6 month range. Paid ads can generate leads within the first week once campaigns go live. I'll set specific expectations based on your situation on the discovery call.

Why hire one person instead of an agency?

Agencies are built for volume. After the sales call, your account goes to a junior staffer who's managing 40 other clients at the same time. The person who sold you on it isn't the person doing the work. With me, you get one person who knows your business, does the work, and is directly responsible for what happens. I keep my roster at 4 to 5 clients for exactly that reason.

Are you only available in Dayton, Ohio?

No. I work with clients remotely across the country. I'm based in Dayton, but where you're located doesn't change what I can do for you. If you're local and want to meet in person at some point, that works too.

What if you're already at capacity?

I'll tell you straight. I don't overbook and figure it out later. If my roster is full when you reach out, I'll let you know and give you the option to wait for an opening. You won't get a vague 'we'll be in touch.'
